As some readers nicely pointed out yesterday, I made a mistake in my 7/18 strip. I accidentally wrote “adverse” instead of “averse.” Got a little confused there, sorry. I do proofread my strips several times beforehand, and they go through editors as well, but this one got past all of us. I must’ve confused the meanings.
Anyway, thanks to those readers who caught it. Damn, it had to be in the punchline!
Does this happen to a lot of cartoonists? just curious. I imagine doing all those cartoons might cause slip-ups now and then.
Hi Raina. I can’t speak for everyone, but it does happen to me occasionally — I’m only human. The strange thing is, I proofread on printouts as well as on the computer screen, but sometimes I don’t catch anything until the strip’s actually published. It’s like seeing it with new eyes. I equate it to the cartoonist’s Bermuda Triangle…where missing goof-ups reside.
Terri,
I live here in Lyndhurst on Farnhurst and I’ve been working on an initiative to help average NE Ohioans to reduce their banking costs and actually get merchant “give backs” (i.e. “Cash not points”) for things they purchase. It’s going well and now I have a Visa card that is patented that will make it all happen. What I’m looking for is someone who can put a graphic look to it so that the average consumer will understand the program. I know “What” I want, but the best I could do is what an 8 year old could do with a 16 color set of crayolas. Would you be interested in talking to me?
