The Great Lakes "Plot Threads" exhibit, which was previously on display in Columbus, OH, is now at the ToonSeum in Pittsburgh, PA. See the recent press release below:
The ToonSeum presents its newest exhibit "Plot Threads: Storylines by Great Lakes Cartoonists," featuring original art from well-loved, nationally syndicated comic strips that shows how a story line comes full circle on the funny pages. More than 40 pieces of original comic art are on display on loan from the artists.
Visitors can join the angst-filled teen Jeremy as he becomes master of the grill in "Zits" by Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman (a Pulitzer Prize winner for editorial cartooning), identify with working parents Jill and Rob as they find a little time for themselves in "Pajama Diaries" by Terri Libenson, and see how a young boy escapes his nightmares by dream hopping to less-scary environments in illustrator Jared Lee's picture book "Dream Hop" (with author Julia Durango.)
Other comics featured include "Little Dog Lost" by Steve Boreman, "Super Sam" by Daryll Collins, "Agnes" by Tony Cochran and "Dear Dudley" by Jeff Stahler.
"Plot Threads" is the second exhibit in the ToonSeum Gallery, an independently operated exhibition space in the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh dedicated to rotating exhibits of cartoon art in the genres of comic books, comic strips, illustration, editorial cartoons and animation. ToonSeum is included with paid admission to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh.
"Plot Threads" is being curated by Craig Boldman and Joe Wos of the National Cartoonists Society Great Lakes Chapter and runs through Feb. 27.

Terri and her family took part in celebrating National Cartoonist Day at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, PA. Terri did a drawing demonstration, signings, and refreshed her skills at impromptu cartooning.
It was a fun-filled day, and Terri recommends anyone with kids to visit this wonderful, interactive museum. Many thanks to NCS member, Joe Wos, who helped coordinate this event.

A sad note.
On Thursday, March 15, Jay Kennedy, editor-in-chief at King Features Syndicate, died in a drowning accident in Costa Rica .
I only knew Jay personally for the past two years, but his influence on my career was profound to say the least. He always had an encouraging word to say about each submission I sent him, and he is the reason I am syndicated today. I often have Jay in mind when I strive for quality in my work.
Jay's intelligence and kindness, coupled with a knack for brutal honesty in critiquing (something I appreciated) will be greatly missed. Condolences go out to all his family and friends.
